For week 1 my role was Literally Luminary
here are my notes from today
GABBI
do you think aaron will return?
yes
do you think we will se ben an cilian again
maybe
if you were todd would you have stabbed aaron
yes
in the journal what kind of info do you think he'll find
not much use, plants, when he was born, the war, girls, sparkles etc
do you think todd made any bad decisions with the girl, would you have done anything different
he didn't put it down, i would have put it down
why do you think the girl has no noise
i think she was somewhere else when the germ was released
what signs of dystopia have you noticed
all the woman dead, the noise, "trying to make it a better place and failed" burned all the books, after a big war etc.
do any of the parts remind you of society now or another book
the religious man is really religious, which is sometimes like religion now a days, north korea
how do you think the absence of woman has impacted
gender roles
the vocabulary
its gone down, a little bit better then our tech, run down
how accurate are the authors "noise of animals"
simple and accurate
pros and cons of noise
you can tell if you're being lied to, but its really noisy, personal, no privacy
do you see a contrast between aaron's motives and actions
god is listening, focusing on god, beating up this kid, sacrificing the only girl they've seen in a long time
on pg. 6 todd saw something in aaron's noise. what do you think it was
something about the girl or a plan he has
what could have started the war
i feel like it's post rebellion
why out of possible weapons was the noise made
so the enemy could listen in
pg 14 the same germ released the noise and killed half the men and all the woman
the flu,
how is the noise different then mind reading in shows
you can block it out, you do it on purpose, but here it 's not stop you can't block it out
pg. 27 the mayor plans to shape the noise into a weapon, how do yo think it could be a weapon
control it, use it to their own advantage
why do you think cillian immediately told him to leave
info in the book they knew about previously, and other people could have heard it
wyh is this so dangerous
because someone else might hear it and it could make a problem
why does it matter if he leaves the town
no one else has before
in terms of running the town, how would you do it differently
not burn the books, support creativity, explore, be more open minded
if you were todd would you have risked your life to save the girl
maybe and he's brave and not selfish
how would the story have changed
it would have kept going on obviously the end
do you think aaron's plan with the sacrifice could have changed anything
no, they would have gotten the girl to marry someone and repopulate
back when todd was getting apples what do you think aaron was doing
i think he was looking for the hole in the noise, and trying to make sure that todd wouldn't find it
GRACE
location probably near a big river, flatter land because of farms, probably england because that's where the author is from,
how the soackles were made - a leek in the factory, that's why there's men wormn and children speckle
a religious culture
ME
pg.68 and 69
he describes the girl because he's seen her in other people's noise but then at the same time he's saying that she doesn't look like the girls he's seen
